Human skill development

This service of the Institute is intended to prepare standard codes of practices on materials, processes and products that can be voluntarily adopted by the industry for making and supplying products of consistent quality. The following codes are available at present. 

A. Voluntary Code of Practice for Glass Fibre Polyester           Translucent Roofing Sheets-FPPI-VCP-P001 :2001

B. Voluntary Code for the manufacture and marketing of     Polyester Resin systems- FRPI-VCP-M001:2001.

C. Voluntary code of practice for the manufacture and     marketing of glass fibre reinforced plastics (GRP) doors
     FRPI - VCP-P002-2002

The institute can undertake the certification of the quality of the product that conforms to various standards and can monitor the the quality procedure being adopted by the industries during fabrication. This can be taken up on the basis of mutual agreement.

The Institute organises short duration seminars and conferences on selected topics in order to promote the growth of the industry and to provide up-to-date knowledge and information. The following are some of the topics on which seminars were conducted so far. The technical materials of these seminars and conferences can be supplied on request.

a. Opportunities for FRP Composites in Transport Industry held on 30.10.99 at Chennai.

b. Opportunities for FRP Composites in Infrastructure held on 11.3.2000 at Chennai.

d. "Quality Assurance and ISO 9000 Certification in FRP Industry" held at Chennai

e. Fibre Reinforced Thermoplastics and their applications held at Chennai' on 17.3.2001

g. " FRP Composites for water management and sewage disposal" held at IIT Delhi in Sept. 2002

The Institute organised successfully an international conference and exhibition (ICERP 2002) in February 2002, which was held at IIT Madras. Similar events (ICERP 2004 & ICERP 2006) were organized every alternate years for giving an opportunity for the Indian industry to see the developments taking place in composites technology all over the world and to show-case the capabilities of the Indian FRP industry to the out side world.
